I set the BW4031 to run mode in BWConfig, but it doesn’t run when power is applied. What am I doing wrong?
The BW4031 (and legacy AB7645) will not go into RUN on its own, as this is a safety feature.
RUN mode in BWConfig is not the correct way to put the BW4031 in RUN in production. BWConfig can force RUN mode, but that is for diagnostic purposes only, not to be used for runtime.
RUN mode is under the control of the PLC or other device connected to the Ethernet side of the gateway at runtime and controlling the gateway.
Bit 0 of the Command Register must be set to 1 by the Controller to put the module in RUN mode, otherwise it is in IDLE mode (listening to PGNs but not transmitting PGNs).
