Updates to General Stack Functionality and for CT20 Conformance:

When Pyramid Solutions plans for updates to the stack products, we review queued stack code updates that impact general stack functionality (this includes user suggested updates and input from engineering), newly required features, as determined by the ODVA, and necessary updates to pass the latest ODVA CT20 Composite Test (CT).

The latest stack versions are available on the download site, so they are accessible to customers that are eligible for access to the latest stack versions.

Click here to log in to your download account. If your download access has expired, contact us to discuss options for re-instating access.

The stack release notes contain a history of updates made to the stack products for each release. The release notes are available on the download page with the stack product installer.

PlugFest / Lab Testing Certification Tools

Pre-interoperability testing is possible using Pyramid’s EDITT Tool (EtherNet/IP Device Interoperability Test Tool – used to automate the PlugFest Adapter tests).

CIP Security Updates

CIP Security was introduced several years ago to the ODVA Specification and is an evolving technology.

CIP Security is now being adopted by and ever-expanding range of product OEM’s due to customer demand and the evolving security risks for Industrial Ethernet.

For version 5.4.0, Pyramid has updated our CIP Security option general functionality and added mandatory features as defined by ODVA –

  •  Added attributes 18 and 19, available originator cipher suites and allowed originator cipher suites
  •  Revised attributes 3 and 4 for adapter/server use only as defined by ODVA
  • Attribute 5 modified to reject any duplicate PSK Identities and returns general status 0x09 invalid attribute value
  • Verified – EtherNet/IP security object reset will be accepted over any connection up until the CIP Security object’s state attribute transitions to configured, at which point this reset will only be accepted over a CIP Security connection
  • Improved LLDP – LLDP objects align with IEE 802.1AB-2016

Additional Stack Updates

  • Improved Linux Makefile documentation
  • Added makefile to build Linux shareable library
  • LLDP example for Linux was improved
  • Resolved issues with assembly tag names introduced in 5.3.0
  • Resolved “scannerFinishOpenConnection should not be static when EIP_CIPSAFTEY is defined” for CIP Safety module
  • Added tracing to report to track stack shut down and waiting for application thread to close
  • Forcing identity initialization when starting the stack
  • Updates to replace use of deprecated Windows API’s
  • Improved error messages when opening a socket
  • When running examples, you can now step into the stack
  • When updating the stack, updates will be visible in the examples

EtherNet/IP Scanner Simulator Tool (EIPScan)

For EIPScan, version 2.4.2 is still the latest and greatest. We are working on a future update and will send notification when it’s released.

In case you missed it, EIPScan had a major refresh for versions 2.4.0 and newer. This included an EIPScan-SECURE option, which enables CIP Security connections. Contact us if you are interested in upgrading to the latest version of EIPScan or EIPScan-SECURE.
