Established in 1916,  our client is among the nation’s largest insurers, providing insurance to 2.7 million policyholders. The company is represented by over 42,000 licensed agents in 26 states and offers multiple lines of insurance including life, home, auto and business.

The Challenge

Microfiche, the process of taking paper documents and converting them into micro-photographs on a flat piece of film, used to be a very common practice for insurance providers. It was a way to preserve information and reduce the costs of storing physical paper. However, with the rise of digitalization, microfiche is now obsolete.

Our client was was looking for ways to reduce overhead cost by converting their microfiche to digital. Their current process was extremely time-consuming and manual; an employee would have to load and scan the microfiche into a specialized processing software to paginate it, and then scan the microfiche into a PDF. 

For this process, It was estimated that it would take one full-time employee 20 years to complete due to the volumes of microfiche they had and the manual nature of the work. This lengthy process was unacceptable, for our client, so they looked for a partner to expedite this in an efficient manner.
