Leading Industrial Lighting OEM Brings EtherNet/IP Enabled Lighting Systems to Market
An EtherNet/IP Case StudyClient Overview
Our client provides world-leading industrial LED lighting solutions for manufacturers globally. Their products provide superior operational performance, reliability and durability to reduce energy consumption and ongoing maintenance.
Challenge
After doing an internal audit, they quickly realized they were missing out on potential sales opportunities. They found a number of their customers going to direct competitors due to their inability to interface with industrial networks. That’s when they knew they needed to expand their product lines.
To remain competitive, the OEM found that their lighting systems had to communicate over EtherNet/IP, however they lacked the knowledge and experience to quickly bring their new product line to market.
Solution
Meeting with our clients and understanding their needs, Pyramid Solutions worked as a virtual extension of their engineering team. Together, we mapped out a clear strategy and development road map to complete the project in just over a month. Enabling and accelerating development efforts, Pyramid Solutions’ NetStaX EtherNet/IP Adapter Stack was used to enable EtherNet/IP Adapter functionality into their industrial lighting control software.
The Pyramid Solutions team helped our client develop and integrate the existing lighting system software with the EtherNet/IP interface (the device profile and application objects that provided access to external EtherNet/IP devices to monitor and control the lighting system).
While enabling and interfacing EtherNet/IP for their lighting system was the goal, Pyramid Solutions also helped the OEM pass the ODVA conformance test on the first try!
