Client Overview

As a state treasury department, our client is responsible for collecting, disbursing, and investing all state monies. In addition, our client informs the Governor on all tax and revenue policy, collects and administers over $20 billion a year in state taxes, as well as, protects the credit of the state. The treasury department is also responsible for the fiscal health of local governments and schools.

The Challenge

During tax season our client faced a number of challenges especially when it came to ingesting all the documents related to processing taxes. This was the result of working with an outdated environment: IBM Datacap 8.1, which was incapable of making any changes without re–writing the whole program. The outdated system caused a host of issues including data entry errors, onboarding hiccups, and the inability to efficiently process new forms.

Our client was paying a hefty price as a result of their inefficient system with a lot of wasted time performing continuous regression testing after every tiny change.

To fix this issue, they decided the right course of action would be to update their IBM Datacap platform. To ensure a successful update, our client sought out a partner that had the proven experience to work with IBM applications, and chose Pyramid Solutions to spearhead the project.
