Application: Large diesel engine driven pumps are used to control the water level of natural bodies of water and man-made vessels, such as those used in manufacturing operations.
Problem: Customers are looking for a way to monitor and control single or multiple diesel engine driven pumps (using 1 or multiple BridgeWay modules) over a SAE J1939 (CAN) network via a standard Automation Controller (PLC) over EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU or PROFIBUS. This application requires that the diesel engine and peripheral devices be controlled and monitored by the Automation Controller while running or offline, since this is typically a remote automated operation with no operator.
Solution: The BridgeWay J1939 Gateways allows the Automation Controller to receive and send PGN messages on the J1939 network, enabling direct access to network data, including diagnostics and the ability to perform control operations, such as adjusting the engine speed and commanding Actuators.
