Being on the Ford Field turf where Detroit Lions players walked before me was a special feeling.

Seeing the smile on my 15-month-old son’s face as he walked on the field was an extraordinary feeling.

On April 2nd, I, along with my team, the Detroit Muscle Crew, participated in one of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) annual Muscle Walk events. They take place in many locations throughout the United States, and this was the fourth consecutive year my team attended the Detroit event.

Part of what made this event possible for my team was the support I received from my colleagues at Pyramid Solutions. Every Friday employees can dress casually with the stipulation that they donate $2 to our “Casual Friday Fund.” At the end of every quarter, the company picks a charity to receive the Casual Friday Fund.

This past quarter, they donated to the Detroit Muscle Crew. My team had a goal to raise $5,000 for the MDA, which I’m proud to say we achieved.

Muscle Walks are one of the largest fundraisers that the MDA does every year. This Association does wonderful things to help myself, my family and numerous other families tackling Muscular Dystrophy. I was diagnosed with Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy as a child. When diagnosed, I had general weakness in my legs and arms. As the disease progressed, that weakness increased. I now use a power wheelchair full time. It’s wonderful to know that my coworkers helped fund the organization that does so any things to make my life a lot easier. Their generous donations will help make care available for kids and adults, fund research and empower families across America with support to live longer and grow stronger.

I’m grateful my fellow employees at Pyramid Solutions helped raise over $1,000 from the Casual Friday Fund and other donations. Your support is invaluable to me.
